eureka pet lover canister which is mitey mite with HEPA filter. You can use regular MM bags or special eureka Filteraire bags. About $150, light, compact, powerful, can order parts, bags, filters etc from eureka online.
Another canister fan here. We had Eureka before, it was sort of OK, but it was in a suburb with not much dust around. Now we live on a busy street and our Electrolux Oxygen really saves us. We bought it refurbished from cpoelectrolux.com about a year ago – so far, so good.
I prefer cannister vacuums because we have oriental rugs which shouldn’t be cleaned with a revolving brush, found on uprights. We keep an inexpensive Eureka downstairs and a far more costly Electrolux upstairs. They’re about equal in cleaning power. The Eurekas sell for under $100.
