Vintage Stove for Sale...

Hi,

We have a vintage 60’s GE Americana electric range with oven and overhead rotisserie oven for sale. This was in the kitchen when we moved into our house and was almost never used (the previous owners had a gas stove installed in a pantry that served as their dirty kitchen and cooked on that. The Americana was part of the show kitchen.) 

Anyway we replaced the stove and would like to give the American a good home. It’s straight out of Mad Men so anyone into retro appliances please get in touch. $300 or best offer. email huttsme@yahoo.com

This is about the same vintage (and “coppertone” color) as the 36″ caloric stove we bought in 1974 and are looking to replace. When we do so I’ll be happy to offer it to a good home for free–I’m not looking to undercut the OP though because his range looks far more pristine and has that neat rotisserie top. Also, it might be a while. My wife wants a new range, while I’d prefer a vintage late ’40s, early ’50s one–we’ve been looking for at least two years.

You’re smoking something if you think this is worth $300\. Sure there is a market for vintage old stoves. They are nearly always gas models that were well built and had a certain period flair. Whether you liked the aesthetic of the seventies or not the stove pictured was the equivalent of a Chrysler K-car.

Not quite but they didn’t cook in the formal kitchen. I guess the phrase dirty kitchen is not that common outside of places like the Philipinnes, where my family is from, where people have a very functional kitchen often on the porch or outside where they do deep frying and messy cooking. They call this the dirty kitchen. Then if they are able, they also have a formal kitchen with all the nice appliances that somewhat for show. That’s what the previous owners of this house had going on, which is why we have a pretty pristine vintage stove on our hands.
