Geico (Occidental) vs. Allstate (Tristate Insurance Jericho, NY)

After 16 years with Allstate, and never ever having filed a claim, the company dropped our homeowner’s policy on the basis of so-called “flood risk management”  Ridiculous!  (Our house is not remotely located on a flood plain.)   At any rate, Allstate  suggested we take our business to TSC.  And we almost did.  Until we discovered that TSC was a whole bunch of rigamarole, fast-talking and rapid changing of premium quotes.  We became so annoyed with TSC’s game playing that we cancelled our policy with them as soon as we received the policy in writing and were able to really digest the terms and rates.    BTW, I’m not necessarily suggesting you go with State Farm.  Our decision to go with SF was made under pressure of having to get quick, affordable homeowner’s coverage with a “known” company — after a very, very long time of not having to even think about such matters.  So far, all is good.  But, as with Allstate, we’ve also had no reason to file a claim.  Good luck with your  search!

Homeowners insurance: Geico is giving a quote $200 more than Allstate.  The coverage is about the same.  Does anyone have experience dealing with Occidental or Tristate Insurance (TSC Direct)?
