Kitchen Design and Build Experiences: Please recommend a company based upon your experience

About to do a gut kitchen renovation predicted to be in the $50-60k range.  Would like one company to handle job from design to demo to build.  If you are a homeowner, let me know who you’ve used and what your experiences have been.

I recently finish my kitchen reno the company I used did a wonderful job they 
even finshed ahead of schedule with the change orders that was hadded.
I am very happy with the job that was done. it so nice to have functioning kitchen to

I had a great experience with Absolute Kitchen and Bath.  They are online at http://www.kitchenplace.com.  The owner is a designer, and will spend countless hours on the phone with you going over your wishes, and design a kitchen within your budget.  I was wary of dealing with somebody remote, but I can’t say enough about how beautiful my kitchen came out, and the cabinetry is incredibly well made.  I used Transcend Construction to gut my kitchen, and build it with these cabinets.  I’m delighted with both companies.  My kitchen is about 18 x 16, and was in your budget range with appliances, countertops, etc…

You have asked professionals not to reply, so think of me instead as a knowledgeable, concerned citizen.  I’m sure you realize that design-build contractors will design for you what they can deliver expediently and not necessarily what’s in your best interest.  You will also miss out on the benefits of competitive bidding.  At the same time, it’s understood that a small project may be well-served by omitting the cost of design professionals like myself.  However, a $60K kitchen isn’t really that small.  Still, if you insist on a design-build approach, you should stick with somebody good, reputable and reasonably hi-end.  For that, I like RA Somerby (718-260-8936).  They’ve been doing projects of this kind in Brooklyn for something like 20 years, and they have an excellent reputation.
