DEP Water Leak Notification Issue - Need Help

I had a similar issue at one of my properties but not sure if exactly what you are experiencing. I received a notification from the city that my water main was leaking below the sidewalk and had to hire my plumber (Harris Water) to replace the pipe. I did not receive any violations and never really heard back from the city. It appears that Harris handled all of the paperwork

My bill tripled due to a leak with a toilet I was unaware of. The leak notification from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) never reached me. Has anyone else experienced issues with DEP water leak notifications, or does anyone know what I need to do to actually receive notifications? I have had it enabled since last year. Has anyone successfully received a notification about a leak from DEP?

Yes, I received such a notification in 2019. An email: “You are receiving this email because you signed up for DEP’s leak notification program. From 07/06/2019 to 07/11/2019, your property used water at a rate significantly above your normal consumption pattern. This high rate of water use could indicate a potential leak. However, please note that receiving this email alert does not guarantee the presence of a leak. There could be other reasons for the sudden increase in water use such as lawn watering or the presence of house guests.” I was working abroad and had my place rented. I was able to get a plumber in who identified a broken running toilet as the culprit. I am not saying that it was related to a renter who decided she wanted out of her lease…But it worked.
