sewer replacement cost question
I’m looking to replace the sewer line from my house to the city pipe, I call a plumber, he came measure it and it’s about 45 feet long and will need to dig 12 feet down. He hasn’t give me a quote yet. what kind of quote should I expect? i’m in brooklyn, nyc. anybody done similar fix before? thanks

Hi, I recently signed up for this DEP/American insurance and coincidentally, 2 weeks later we have a sewer overflow in the cellar, that may be the sewer line outside the house. Did they ever explain to you how they determined something was “preexisting”?

I recently had my sewer replaced and it did cost me 11k. I had the same thoughts and was signed up for the DEP/American Water insurance program, I thought I was covered. They arrived at my house for an inspection of the sewer line and told me that the break was “preexisting” and it is not covered under my policy. I was furious, how are they able to determine that the pipe had been broken before I signed up for the insurance? After doing my research it seems that they deny most claims for being preexisting, several of my friends have had the same exact experience. I ended up having Harris Water & Sewer replace the pipe due to them having the fairest price and they did a good job but I really thought I was covered with the insurance!! Prices I’ve heard run anywhere from 12K being the cheapest to 18K being the highest.

It more costly than a water main, because it’s deeper. Too bad you didn’t avail yourself to the offer by the DEP of private insurance for that kind of situation.
