this quarters tax increases

anyone else get a shock when paying their tax this quarter? our taxes for a 8 unit co-op went up $699 ($2,800 annualized) I’m pissed is there anything we can do about this?

Henry Street brooklyn heights. Its just a plain old 4 story walk up with 2 studios per floor.

This is a crazy amount of money.

Can anyone suggest a real solution to getting our taxes reduced?

Wow. I thought our little 8 unit had it bad at about $19K per year. Where is your building? If you file an annual RPIE, you can try annual applications for reconsideration of tax level. I’ve tried but it has never worked for us, even though a rental building of similar size right across the street pays less than half of what we do, as do all the nearby 1 – 4 family brownstones, several of which are also co-oped. Completely unfair! NYC needs tax overhaul, but due to crazy long ingrained politics it will never happen.

that still seems pretty low…a maintenance increase of $30 a unit doesn’t seem insane.
