After several years of virtual tours, the architecturally curious will once again be able to enjoy an in-person look inside some intriguing interiors.
After several years of virtual tours, the architecturally curious will once again be able to enjoy an in-person look inside some intriguing interiors at the 45th annual Brownstoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant house tour.
The signature event for the civic-minded organization went virtual in the midst of the pandemic in 2020, providing supporters with a guided video tour of a handful of houses within the historic neighborhood.
Design and architecture enthusiasts will be able to drool over interiors in person this year on Saturday, October 21. The tour is self-guided and will include around five houses.
While the event has always given a glimpse inside the neighborhood’s impressive homes, the Brownstoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant, which was founded in 1978, has also used it as a scholarship fundraiser. Proceeds from the tour will go to a fund that so far has given out over $100,000 in scholarships to seniors from the Boys and Girls High School to support their college dreams. This year they have a fundraising goal of $10,000.
The day begins with a free homeownership workshop at 9 a.m. and then the house tour runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. To find out which houses are on the tour you will need to have a ticket and check in at the starting point at Boys and Girls High School at 1700 Fulton Street. Ticket holders will receive a brochure with all the details; the brochure is required for entry into each of the homes on the tour.
Tickets are available online at $30 (plus a service fee) until October 20. Tickets on the day of the tour will be $35. For more information about the event and to purchase a ticket, visit the event page online.
