Just a reminder that there’s less than three weeks left until the First Annual Salvage Fest. On Saturday, September 8 (rain date: September 9), the folks from Moon River Chattel, Olde Good Things, Demolition Depot, Black Dog Salvage, Build It Green, Eddie’s, the newly-enrolled Old Soul Architectural Salvage and Reclaimed Home will be setting up shop in the P.S. 11 school yard in Clinton Hill. Rich Ellis, publisher of the Architectural Salvage News will also be holding court. The range of items will include everything from doorknobs to sconces to sinks to reclaimed flooring. When we first announced the event, many of you chimed in with requests. If you were at the beach that day and would like to contribute your wish list so dealers can better gauge what to bring, please do so below.
By the way, if any readers are members of any of the nearby church congregations, we’re looking to rent some folding tables for the day. Please drop us an email at brownstoner@brownstoner.com if you can hook us up.
Chandeliers, coat hooks, drawer pulls.
Please bring some old interesting suitcases. Ya know, the hard case vintage ones like Amelia Earhardt (sp?) brands.
Sometimes, walking around these expensive thrift/antique stores is just fun & inspiring. It also gives you great ideas.
So sad that you can always find a jealous angry person in the bunch.
I can’t wait for this event.
12:35, do you really think that people living in million dollar brownstones who can afford to donate to churches, not to mention schools and other community groups, do not benefit the community? Events like this help engender a sense of community and help convince people of means to move here. If you want to have a discussion about the ills of gentrification, then that’s a different subject. But just because an event is for profit does not mean that it does not have very tangible benefits for the community. And you’re especially wrong here, since PS11 gets a cut of the rental fees, as well as all proceeds from food and PS11 gear being sold at the event. Either you haven’t thought this through, or you have and you’re completely misguided.

Wonderful! A note to vendors — the big-ticket / massive salvage items are great fun to look at, but please be sure to bring some smaller things at lower price points, too. As an apartment dweller with a penchant for salvage, I’m more likely to splurge on a $50 doorknob than a $5,000 mantle. So I hope there’s something there for me, too!
He said he wanted to RENT the tables not get them for free.

…And?
You should just pay for chair rentals.
This gathering does not serve some community needs, but rather a way for upper class to wander about and decorate their million dollar homes.
Interior solid paneled doors please!!
Stained glass skylights, interior door knobs and plates, maple mantles.
