Brownstoners of Bed Stuy

October means open houses, and Brownstoners of Bed Stuy are celebrating their 38th year of house tours on Saturday, October 17.

The rain-or-shine event is a feast of Central Brooklyn’s most stunning homes, the real estate equivalent of what Smorgasburg is for the borough’s foodies.

Organized by the nonprofit volunteer organization Brownstoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Inc., the day begins at 9 a.m. with a free hourlong homeownership workshop presented by Bridge Street Development Corporation, with a focus on financing renovations and purchases of Bed Stuy homes.

The self-guided house tours will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning at the Historic Boys & Girls High School at 1700 Fulton Street, where brochures will be distributed. Brochures will essentially serve as tickets and are required for entry to the homes.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of. Tickets can be purchased online or at Brooklyn Swirl (445 Marcus Garvey Boulevard), Bed-Vyne Wine (370 Tompkins Avenue) and Peace & Riot (492 Nostrand Avenue).

One of the properties scheduled for the tour is Brownstoner’s own Bed Stuy Reno home.
