You talkin’ to me? Brownstoner reader Andrew Porter dug up this image of a young Cybill Shepherd and Martin Scorsese posing between shoots of the 1976 film Taxi Driver — in Brooklyn.
Visible in the left background is the campaign office of Charles Palentine, the fictional presidential candidate for whom Shepherd’s character Betsy volunteered in the film. Indeed, the location at 101 Clark Street on Pineapple Walk was, in fact, an empty store that today is the location of Signature Dental.

And also remember that the pre-renovation Brooklyn Borough Hall was the site of the rally that almost resulted in the death of the candidate at the hand of our Taxi Driver.
Andrew, you may be correct about that particular scene, but Borough Hall definitely provided the backdrop for at least one of the Palentine scenes.
