The Queens-based 2013 New York Music Competition is now accepting applications

It’s time again for young musicians to start thinking about the New York Music Competition; young pianists, violinists, and cellists are invited to apply. The prize is a performance at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall for the first and second place winners. The Grand Prize Winner will also be invited to perform a special recital at the YWCA of Queens, who is a co-sponsor of this event, along with the Korea Daily, a Korean-language paper based in LIC.

The competition is now in its sixteenth year, and the organizers estimate that more than 400 winners of the competition have been able to have a career in music.

Here are more details for those interested in entering the 16th Annual New York Music Competition

• The competition will be held between March 25th-March 28th, 2013, in Flushing
• Age limits: competitors must be under 15 years of age as of March 5, 2013 for pianists and violinists; under 17 years of age as of March 5, 2013 for cellists
• Applications should be filled out and submitted to the front desk or via mail to Joanne Chung (42-07 Parsons Blvd., Flushing, NY
• There is a $100 fee to apply
