Listing of the Day: Astoria Rental Worth the Lack of Aesthetics
This three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bathroom rental won’t win any design awards — the kitchen cabinets need updating, there’s a pink bathroom and the floors are a little loud, to say the least. Located at 30-89 48th Street, the top-floor unit has a large eat-in kitchen and formal dining room, large living room, and supposedly has two balconies, though only one is pictured. As mentioned, the half-bathroom is filled with pink tiles, but the full bath is perfectly normal looking.
It’s just a few blocks from the M and R trains at 46th Street and just barely walkable (about 20 minutes) or a short bus ride from the N and Q at either 30th Avenue or Broadway. And there are plenty of eating, drinking and shopping locales within walking distance as well.

Who is $2900/mo affordable for? You people do know you can buy a place for less, right?
Love,
A former Astorian, still a Queenser, owns a home for less that that
For a single person it’s certainly not affordable for most (myself included), but used as a roommate situation or maybe for a dual-income family, it’s much more doable than plenty of other Astoria listings I’ve seen, especially considering there’s an extra half bath and a balcony.
FYI, it’s $2900/month. That’d be a nice detail to include in this post, considering you assert its affordability as a selling-point.
Yikes, thank you for catching! It’s been updated.
