The ongoing battle over which borough has the best restaurants will have a friendly skirmish during Queens Taste 2015 in Corona on May 12. More than 50 restaurants, dessert makers, and beverage providers are getting ready to provide samples of their products to an expected 800 attendees at this annual celebration, which will take place at the New York Hall of Science this year. More information and more foodie photos are on the jump page.
The participant list is as diverse as the borough, where an estimated 120 languages are spoken. La Fusta in Elmhurst brings beefy Argentine cuisine, while Jamaica’s O Lavrador delights with Portuguese paella. Pa-Nash in Rosedale serves West Indian/Moroccan fusion, while Woodside’s La Adelita impresses with Mexican specialties. Michelin-rated M. Wells, which is participating for the first time ever, will provide a pleasant surprise, while its Long Island City neighbor Fushia will prepare pan-Asian goodies.
The beverage group includes SingleCut Beersmiths and Queens Courage gin as well as Elmhurst Dairy and the Astoria-based cocktail experts Shibitters. As part of the fun, Big Apple Circus clowns will do magic tricks and give away free red noses to all attendees (or at least those who want one).
Details: Queens Taste 2015, New York Hall of Science, 47-01 111th Street, Corona, May 12th, 6 pm to 9 pm, $125 per ticket or two for $200. Proceeds support the nonprofit Queens Economic Development Corporation, so a portion of the ticket cost is tax-deductible.
