There’s something for just about every artistic taste at Socrates Sculpture Park this week. On Aug. 14, the eight-week long Film Forum Festival continues with The Gleaners & I, a documentary which tracks a few “gleaners” who spend their days hunting for food and knicknacks in the French countryside. With a healthy portion of wit, the film comments on the consumer society and the role of creativity in survival. Immediately after the screening, the Brooklyn-based rock noir band Elysian Fields will perform. Very popular in Europe, the two-person group is an underground success in the United States. The front woman sings in Aramaic, Arabic, English, French, Greek, Ladino and Spanish while the musician plays acoustic instruments, mostly guitar, piano, bass and drums, but he sometimes uses eastern instruments, classical strings and subtle electronics. Plus, Delirious Dances, a troupe that merges theater with dance, will be at Socrates creating a work-in-progress on weekday mornings before performing the finished product on Aug. 17.
