Curbed put together a nice slideshow this week on the interior of the 14-story, 75,000-square-foot tower boutique Z Hotel in Long Island City. Said interior, designed by Andres Escobar, reflects a penchant for things transit-oriented (get a look at that mural of the City Hall subway station behind the reception desk).
According to the hotel, this design “hearkens back to a golden age of travel, when voyages were glamorous and thrilling.” The furnishings reflect the style of the Jazz Age (mixed with industrial chic); and what Curbed considers “European flair” has much to do with the free bikes that guests can use to check out LIC and environs.
We profiled Z Hotel before, which opened last summer (four years later than scheduled). With visitors coming in to town for the 2012 US Open, it might be a nice option for those who want to stay in Queens during the Tournament.
