What do you give the guy who has everything on Father’s Day? A new tie is definitely out of the question. Ditto a corny Hallmark card. But a horror movie would be nice. Or two. Or three.

This Sunday, the Museum of the Moving Image presents Horror Father’s Day, a special screening of three feature films starring scary dads. The Night of the Hunter kicks off the fun at 2 pm. This 1955 masterpiece stars Robert Mitchum as a creepy preacher/serial killer who does a prison stretch. Once free, he tracks down a condemned inmate’s family in an attempt to find some allegedly hidden money.

Eyes Without a Face screens at 4:30 pm. This 1960 classic follows a crazy, obsessive doctor who tries radical plastic surgery to restore his beautiful daughter’s face, which was disfigured in a car accident that he caused.

The Shining is the nightcap at 6:30 pm. This psychosocial horror flick stars Jack Nicholson as an alcoholic writer who takes a job as a caretaker at an isolated hotel during the off-season. As he deals with writer’s block, his son has psychic premonitions. Slowly, the father unravels into a homicidal maniac bent on killing his wife and son.

Details: Horror Father’s Day, Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Avenue, Kaufman Arts District, June 21, 2 pm to 8:30 pm, $12 adults/$9 seniors and students.
