Affordable Housing Lottery Opens for 32 Units in Flatbush, Starting at $1,800 a Month

An affordable housing lottery has opened for 32 units in an under-construction seven-story building at 885 Rogers Avenue in Flatbush.
Of the affordable apartments, there are seven studios, nine one-bedroom units and 16 two-bedroom units. Monthly rents start at $1,800 and top out at $2,400.
The lottery is set at an area median income range of 130 percent. Eligible incomes range between $61,715 and $159,640 for households of one to five people.
There are 105 total units in the building. A theater, gym, a laundry room and 53 bicycle parking spaces will be found in the cellar (53 parking spaces for cars will be located off-site). A health care facility will occupy part of the ground floor space along with retail. The second floor will house a daycare for children ages 1 to 12 and outdoor recreation space. Another outdoor space will be on the sixth floor.
The site was formerly home to a one-story brick building once occupied by Carl Fenichel Community Services.
S. Wieder Architect is behind the design of the building. Elsewhere in Brooklyn, they are behind the massive Cascade Linen complex in Bed Stuy and the future home of German co-living company Quarters on Fulton Street.
Anshel Friedman is listed as the owner on building permits, who purchased the property in 2018 for $11.75 million.
Applications for the affordable housing lottery must be submitted by February 5, 2021. Apply through NYC Housing Connect.
