It’s mod à go-go, a loft-like one-bedroom duplex designed by its occupant — French transplant, artist and designer Virginie Sommet — available as a furnished short term rental for six to eight months. Its biggest attraction is without a doubt the inviting pond, big enough for swimming, with two waterfalls, in the lush landscaped backyard.
The garden is matched by a mostly white interior with mod oval shelving — one of Sommet’s calling cards — black piano and nary a hard edge. A wide rear deck with glass window underfoot bridges the open parlor floor and the garden.
The garden floor is also open plan and contains bedroom, office and storage. Located on the bottom two floors of a circa 1890s Queen Anne brownstone in the Stuy Heights Historic District, the unit also has two wood burning fireplaces, two full bathrooms (one on each floor), a clawfoot tub, dishwasher and laundry.
The $9,000 a month rent includes all utilities as well as weekly professional cleaning. The landlord will pay half of an unspecified broker fee, according to the listing, from Chrisette Mignott, Perri DeFino and Morgan Munsey of Compass.
