Here’s a brownstone in Clinton Hill full of details and restored with a clear eye to preserving the home’s historic touches. This three bedroom, 1.5 bath Italianate row house, at 36 Downing Street, boasts five marble mantels, several plaster medallions, crown moldings, parquet floors, pocket doors and many built-ins.

The layout is likely close to the original, with a large living space and library on the parlor floor. The kitchen and dining room are on the garden level and the bedrooms are upstairs. As a bonus, the parlor floor includes an office and a remarkable solarium. The top floor of the rear extension is surrounded on three sides with windows and has been clad entirely in wood, giving the room a rustic and relaxing feel.

Kitchen is a bit short on counter space but features a vintage Chambers stove and a built-in seating area. Though it is not pictured, according to the listing, the wooded garden has a bluestone patio.

We wrote about the home when it was for rent back in 2013. Then the owners were asking $7,500 a month.
