Four Move-In Ready Houses to See This Weekend, Starting at $749K
It’s going to be a warm one this weekend, and we all know what that means: your first chance this year to hit an open house in flip flops.
It’s going to be a warm one this weekend, and we all know what that means: your first chance this year to hit an open house in flip flops. If that doesn’t excite you, perhaps one or all of our open house picks will. They include a Bed Stuy brownstone, a freestander in Bay Ridge, a new reno in East Flatbush and a Clinton Hill row house built in 2000.
First is a freestanding house with a wraparound porch in Bay Ridge, on 77th Street. It’s a beaut, huge, full of fine original detail, and in prime condition. It’s got coffered ceilings, wainscoting, pocket doors, built-ins, stained and leaded glass, and a wood-burning fireplace. There are seven bedrooms, four baths, a renovated kitchen with dual Liebherr refrigerators and an 8-burner Viking range, a finished basement with a full bath, a private driveway and a garage. It was a House of the Day nine months ago, when we noted both its abundant charms and its ambitious price tag; the latter has since dropped by $250,000.
Next stop is Clinton Hill, where we find a brick row house on Greene Avenue. It’s looking a little drab after that last one, with new construction (circa 2000) that’s short on interior charm, but it looks to be in move-in shape: the listing calls it “turn-key.” The listing says it offers an owner’s triplex and a rental duplex — given that it’s a three-story house that presents something of a mystery, with no floor plan to clear it up. There’s a nice fenced patio in back, and the listing references “outside decks.”
Not far off in Bed Stuy, we have a barrel-front brownstone on Madison Street. It’s got original parquet floors and wall moldings and other details; it’s also got a fair amount of space, with dimensions of 20 by 55 feet. There’s an owner’s duplex with two bedrooms and two baths, and a rental with two bedrooms and an office. There’s a backyard with a patchy lawn and a front garden.
Last up is a two-family brick row house on East 49th Street in East Flatbush. It’s small — 16 by 32 feet — with a front porch and front driveway. It’s newly gut renovated and has a nice prewar feel even though it was built in 1941. There’s an owner’s duplex with an open-plan living room/kitchen, three bedrooms, and a single bath, over a two-bedroom rental with a separate entrance. There’s a concrete patio in the back, with a planting bed in the rear.
