The most popular listings on Brownstoner this week include a Clinton Hill condo in a historic mansion, a picturesque Chester Court house in Prospect Lefferts Gardens and an Arts and Crafts house in Windsor Terrace.
There were a couple of popular listings in Park Slope and Clinton Hill but other favorites are scattered across the borough. The least expensive of the group is a brick house in Marine Park at $799,000 and the most expensive a Park Slope flip at $3.995 million.
Which would you choose?
10. Here’s a condo with uncommon grandeur and a distinctive address. It occupies the parlor and garden floors of an 1882 Neo Grec mansion on Clinton Hill’s Mansion Row, written up here as a Building of the Day. The house is notable for reasons beyond its architectural splendor: for over two decades it’s been the site of Halloween 313, a beloved neighborhood extravaganza.

9. This small frame house, on East 8th Street in Kensington, is a mere 15 feet wide. It’s a two-story with a center staircase, with three (or you could say 2.5) bedrooms above. It looks to be in reasonable shape, though it could use some polishing and likely some upgrading. There’s acoustic tile and faux stone, but also details including parquet floors and a stained-glass window transom.

8. This Arts and Crafts house is move-in ready, with renovated baths, and has some distinctive features, including a window-lined “solarium” and a treehouse in the backyard. A semi-detached four bedroom with an enclosed front porch, it’s at 532A 16th Street in Windsor Terrace. There’s some original detail, including a fireplace mantel, crown moldings and parquet floors

7. The listing for this Clinton Hill townhouse is short on info, but it shows some lovely period detail on the bottom floors, including inlaid floors, the original arched entry door, an entrance mirror, crown moldings, wainscoting and a pair of marble mantels, including one that’s quite a beauty. Dating to the mid 19th century, it’s located just outside the historic district, at 510 Washington Avenue.

6. This Ditmas Park standalone at 520 Argyle Road brings a lot to the table. It’s huge, for starters. It’s also beautifully renovated and in prime condition, with a new roof and new mechanicals. It’s got a driveway, a garage, central air, a humidity-control system and choice original details. And it’s got some features not often found in Brooklyn, chief among them an in-ground saltwater pool.

5. In Park Slope we find a high-end flip on 6th Avenue. The house is set up as a five bedroom, 3.5 bath owners triplex over a one bedroom, 1.5 bath garden apartment. Its unclear how much historical detail there was to work with in the house when it was purchased by an LLC in 2016, but the interior lacks historic detail. The wide plank floors appear to be new. The walls are clean and white.

4. This Park Slope townhouse has a brick and terra cotta facade that provides considerable curb appeal. The interior is not quite as striking, but it’s still got some nice details, including moldings, original woodwork and decorative mantels. A four-story, it’s got a pair of 1.5-bedroom apartments on the upper floors, an owner’s duplex with three bedrooms and an additional room off the rear of the garden level.

3. In Marine Park we’ve got an early 20th century brick two-story house. There’s an apartment on each floor, three bedrooms above, two bedrooms below, each with a living room, dining room and eat-in kitchen. This one needs cosmetic work at the least, though it doesn’t look to be in terrible shape. It has some original moldings and bathroom tile, and who knows, maybe parquet floors lurk underneath all that carpeting.

2. Here’s a nice two-story with a front garden and front porch on East 28th Street in East Flatbush — “Brooklyn’s new HOT Spot,” the listing tells us. It’s fully and probably newly renovated, but retains some ‘teens-era detail including inlaid parquet floors, moldings and staircase. It’s a one-family with three bedrooms and a finished basement.

1. This one is auspiciously located on Chester Court in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, a lovely one-block cul-de-sac lined by Tudor Revival houses built in 1911-1912, which makes up a mini historic district. We can’t tell you what the inside of this one, a four-family, looks like, as there are no photos, but work is needed, and possibly quite a bit: “bring your architect,” says the listing.
