Brooklyn Real Estate Six Months Later: All Four Sold
This week, we have homes in Fort Greene, Greenpoint, Carroll Gardens and Kensington that were featured listings six months ago.
Even though it’s a holiday week, we’re going back and taking a look at four of our featured listings from six months ago. This week, we have homes in Fort Greene, Greenpoint, Carroll Gardens and Kensington.
We’re starting off in the Fort Greene Historic District with this Italianate brownstone at 20 South Oxford Street. It has a parlor floor full of period details, five marble mantels and original floors. One of a row of sister Italianate brownstones built circa 1864 by Robert Bonnett, the house doesn’t appear to have been recently renovated but looks to be well kept. This former House of the Day sold in September for $4 million, which was $500,000 below the asking price.
Next, we have a condo in a recently converted 19th century school building that has the feel of a gallery space carved out of a historic property. The former Horace Greeley School, it’s located at 533 Leonard Street in Greenpoint and has been redeveloped into 13 units. This former Condo of the Day sold in October for $2.35 million, which was $125,000 below the asking price.
On Carroll Gardens’ quirky cul de sac, Dennett Place, we have this compact charmer at No. 9 that’s as quaint as its one-block street. The house, which along with the rest of the workmen’s brick row most likely dates from the mid-19th century, boasts one of the strip’s identifying hobbit doors. This former House of the Day sold in July for $1.805 million, which was $20,000 below the asking price.
We’re ending things this week in Kensington. The modest, blue-clapboard facade and porch of this semi-detached single-family contrasts starkly with its all-white interior makeover. Many of the original details, including bannister, moldings, pocket doors, bay windows and a claw-foot tub have been retained and restored, and the floors have been updated to bleached pine throughout. This former Open House Pick sold in July for the asking price of $1.499 million.
