Our selections for open houses this weekend all have some original details on their interiors. Two have been more recently renovated while another has a garage. They are found in Prospect Heights, Greenpoint, Kensington and Bay Ridge and range in price from $1.295 million to $3.95 million.
In the Prospect Heights Historic District, this 1880 Italianate on Sterling Place was renovated before being bought by Opening Ceremony co-founder Carol Lim back in 2014. There have been a few more tweaks to the interior since then, including the opening up of the parlor floor. The sleek kitchen at the rear of the parlor floor has also been updated and a large island added. There are still wood floors, marble mantels and moldings to be found. The two-family has a garden rental with an owner’s triplex above. It is priced at $3.95 million.
On Java Street in Greenpoint, this row house has curb appeal with its brick facade, mansard roof and dormers. On the renovated interior the single family has some Italianate period details including marble mantels, wood floors and stairs. The kitchen at the rear of the parlor floor has sleek white cabinets and a marble counter and backsplash. There are four bedrooms on the upper floors and the garden level has more bedroom and office space. The ask is $3.625 million.
In Kensington, this detached single-family has the bonus of a driveway and garage. Inside, the early 20th century house has some original details like wood floors, moldings and stained glass combined with an open plan living and dining room. There are two kitchens, an L-shaped, renovated one on the first floor and another in the finished basement. There are five bedrooms on the upper two floors. The asking price is $1.65 million.
Finally, this 1906 row house in the Bay Ridge Parkway-Doctor’s Row Historic District was designed by Brooklyn’s Benjamin J. Driesler. While it is Renaissance Revival on the exterior, it likely lost its stoop in the 1930s when some alterations on the interior gave it some Deco style, with arched doorways and niches in the living room. Two of the three baths also date to the period, one of them with bright yellow wall tiles. The single family home has four bedrooms and includes an office on the garden level, as is typical for the district. It is listed for $1.295 million.
