This week, we’re turning the clock back six months and checking in on four of our featured listings, including a Midwood condo and a Park Slope brownstone.
First up is a sprawling circa 1901 home that is newly and fully renovated, with a new kitchen and baths alongside a bit of original detail. A three-story with a front porch and a garage, it’s on a fine, quiet block in the Ditmas Park Historic District, at 497 East 17th Street. This House of the Day sold in July for $2.5 million, $175,000 below ask.
Second up is a beaut of a Park Slope brownstone, with original details and thoughtful updating, and in fine repair. It’s at 477 13th Street, on a block a stone’s throw from Prospect Park and within the Park Slope Historic District. It’s got a clean, elegant look, with details including inlaid parquet floors, crown moldings, plaster detailing and a carved mantle in the living room. This House of the Day sold in June for $3.55 million, $50,000 above ask.
Third is a one-bedroom condo in Midwood that isn’t going to set anyone’s world on fire, but it’s renovated with decent space and a livable layout for under $400,000, with reasonable monthly fees. It’s in a prewar building at 494 Ocean Avenue, near Avenue J. The bedroom is of moderate size, with double exposures and a large closet, with a second one in the hallway outside. There’s a second, windowless space off the living room, separated by French doors, that could serve as an office or suit some other purpose. This Condo of the Day sold in march for $370,000, $9,000 below ask.
In Bed Stuy, we’ve got a three-story brownstone on Hancock Street. Photos are sparse and suggest that work is needed, but there are original details there that would reward the effort, including five mantels, stained glass window transoms, wainscoting, pocket doors and shutters, and plaster crown moldings. It’s currently set up as a three-family, with an apartment on each floor. This Open House Pick sold in June for $1.282 million, $32,000 above ask.
