This week, we’re looking back to see how four of our featured listings from the fall fared on the market. Unusually, all four sold, three for below ask.

First on our list is a house with distinctive ceilings. You don’t see ceilings like this every day, especially in an otherwise fairly typical early 20th neo-Classical brick townhouse at 292 Parkside Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. One has ornate plasterwork; the other is hand-painted. (Perhaps a decorative painter and plasterer once lived there?) There is plenty more to recommend the two-story, one-family brick house as well. It’s in move-in shape and offers a practical layout and other nice original details. This former House of the Day sold in January for $1.427 million, $52,000 above ask.

Next up, this three-story brownstone may need some updating, but it’s got some prime original detail that’s in “museum quality” condition, if the listing can be taken at its word. It’s on a nice Park Slope block, at 374A 8th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. There aren’t a ton of photos for this one, and not a lot of detail in the listing either. It’s a two-family, with a one-bedroom rental on the garden floor and a four-bedroom owner’s duplex above. This former House of the Day sold in January for $2.55 million, $450,000 below ask.

Third on our list is this one-bedroom loft that has a couple of distinctive features, including a curved iron stairway that leads up to the lofted bedroom and a custom-built “disappearing closet” with banks of retractable bookcase-like shelving units. It’s in the former Chocolate Factory, a converted industrial building at 689 Myrtle Avenue in Bed Stuy, which now houses 45 units instead of pumping out sweets. The setup is classic loft; it’s a cavernous open space with a bank of windows at one end, and an open loft bedroom with a built-in desk. This Condo of the Day sold in March for $775,000, $50,000 below ask.

Last up is a brick house on Putnam Avenue in Bed Stuy. This one’s over a century old, but scant original detail remains. Sheetrock and carpeted floors predominate; the place could use some updating, and may well need more besides. It’s a two-family, with a three-bedroom duplex over a two-bedroom garden rental. This Open House Pick sold in March for $975,000, $125,000 below ask.
