This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Cypress Hills, Dyker Heights, Williamsburg and Bed Stuy. How did they fare?
Behind the classic early 20th century row house facade, this Cypress Hills two-family has a bit of contemporary design flair thanks to the owner. The DIY transformation of the lower duplex of 18 Kiely Place was documented by owner and interior designer Megan Pflug on her website and Instagram after purchasing the house in 2013. This former House of the Day sold in February for $880,000, which was $19,000 under the asking price.
One of the early houses constructed in the suburban development of Dyker Heights, this 1890s Colonial Revival still has some of its original interior charm, a generously sized yard and a garage. At 1144 84th Street, it is also a short walk to Dyker Beach Park. There isn’t a floor plan but the listing photos show a spacious first floor with parlors, dining room and kitchen. The standalone house has five bedrooms and 2.5 baths, according to the listing. This former House of the Day is still available.
This duplex condo loft for sale in south Williamsburg offers gritty industrial authenticity and a stunning handcrafted kitchen in the vein of sculptor JB Blunk. Located at 330 Wythe Avenue in a former shoe polish factory now known as the Esquire Building, the unit is spacious but has only one bedroom and one bathroom. This former Condo of the Day sold in February for $1.66 million, which was $165,000 over the asking price.
While it comes in a petite package, this Bed Stuy two-family offers attractive details like plasterwork, moldings and mantels along with renovated kitchens and baths. The house is set up as a two-bedroom duplex over a garden-level apartment. This former House of the Day sold in May for $1.8 million, which was $105,000 over the asking price.
