This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Park Slope. How did they fare?
A one-bedroom with a spacious layout has a number of appealing prewar features, including arched openings, plaster walls, herringbone floors, and original doors. It’s located at 425 14th Street, a 29-unit four-story walkup in the Park Slope Historic District Extension not far from Prospect Park. This former Co-op of the Day sold in February for $700,000, which was $25,000 under the asking price.
A few blocks north, an attractive and practical one-bedroom has a wood-burning fireplace, dining area with built-in banquette, and a number of charming original features. It’s on the penultimate floor of 440 9th Street, a 19th century Neo-Grec brownstone painted white. This former Co-op of the Day sold in February for $875,000, which was $125,000 over the asking price.
Not far away, this top-floor co-op requires a walk up to the fourth floor, but in addition to the usual advantages of light and relative quiet, the spacious Victorian-era apartment offers a renovated interior with some historic charm, three bedrooms, and in-unit laundry. This former Co-op of the Day entered contract in January.
On a park block close to Grand Army Plaza, an 1890s brownstone is filled with impressive woodwork and original details including mantels, pocket doors, wainscoting, and stained glass. Within the Park Slope Historic District, the 20-foot-wide brownstone at 916 President Street is one of a stretch of houses built by Patrick Sheridan. This former House of the Day entered contract in January.
