This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Crown Heights, and Carroll Gardens. How did they fare?
On the fourth floor of a Beaux-Arts building in Park Slope, this dumbbell apartment has high ceilings, original wood floors, and nooks and crannies to explore. It’s located at 392 8th Street, a four-story, eight-unit oatmeal-colored brick walkup with an undulating facade and restrained ornament. This former Co-op of the Day sold in October for $1.15 million, which was $25,000 over the asking price.
A Windsor Terrace prewar has a significant price tag, but it also has a generous amount of space including three bedrooms, two baths, and eight closets. It is on the first floor of the six-story 81 Ocean Parkway, which sits across from the sunken Prospect Expressway, but is also a short walk to the greener pastures of Prospect Park. This former Co-op of the Day entered contract in October.
The few photos available show enough details to make this early 20th century row house an intriguing possibility. At 693 St. Johns Place, the 18.67-foot-wide house has mantels, wainscoting, and a passthrough with original built-ins and sink. Most of the photos in the listing are virtually staged, so the exact condition of some of those details isn’t clear. This former House of the Day is still on the market for $1.995 million, a price cut of $905,000.
Dating to the 1870s, this Carroll Gardens brownstone got an update that combines some period details with a renovated kitchen, central air, and wine storage. The 19-foot-wide row house at 357 Hoyt Street includes wide-planked floor boards, mantels, and an original stair. This former House of the Day sold in August for $3.995 million, which was $255,000 under the asking price.
