This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Kensington, Brooklyn Heights, and Bay Ridge. How did they fare?
On the third floor of a 1930s building, this Kensington one-bedroom has details of the era like arched openings, a breakfast nook, and a foyer with a niche along with a renovated kitchen with a dishwasher. Arched openings lead to the living room on one end of the apartment and the bedroom on the other. This former Co-op of the Day sold in November for the asking price of $485,000.
Also in Kensington, a modest and relatively affordable co-op is spacious enough for a small family and has attractive prewar details. The latter include high ceilings, wood floors, and arched openings. In addition, the two-bedroom unit has original casings, baseboards, and picture rail moldings throughout. Located on the second floor, the apartment opens onto a large foyer with coat closet. This former Co-op of the Day sold in November for $630,000, which was $5,000 over the asking price.
The multi-colored row of 19th century houses on Joralemon Street makes for a popular Instagram view, with the brick Greek Revivals, lush greenery, and Bishop’s Crook lampposts presenting a classic Brooklyn Heights shot. The pale yellow house of the group, 43 Joralemon Street, was on the market for the first time in decades and has a few period details to offer in addition to the scenic location. It’s set up with two duplexes, and the upper one is more recently renovated, the listing noted. This former House of the Day was taken off the market in August, listed with a new broker in January for $4.5 million, and is now currently off the market.
In Bay Ridge, this Arts and Crafts-style stucco home has intact period details like mantels, wainscoting, and built-ins along with a garage and a generously sized yard. At 65 82nd Street, the circa 1910 house sits just blocks from Shore Road and is surrounded by other large homes of the period. The single-family dwelling has been in the same family for decades, and while a new owner may want to make some style updates, particularly to the wet rooms, the house looks neat as a pin. This former House of the Day is still available for $4,888,888, a price cut of $61,112.
