In Boerum Hill, a two-family is set up with an owner’s triplex above a garden apartment. The listing claims the wood frame house was part of the “distinctive visual background” in the film “The Royal Tenenbaums.” It lost its stoop, seen in the historic tax photo, but the clapboard front gives a hint to its original 19th century character. In the same hands since the 1980s, the interior was completely renovated, including the addition of a spiral staircase connecting the first and second floors of the triplex. There is also a working fireplace and central air along with a new furnace, hot water heater and roof.

This late 19th century row house on Macon Street has an angled bay and an original iron fence and railings. The three-family is set up as a two-family with two duplexes. While the floor plan has been chopped up a bit to include two kitchens and a wet bar, original details include moldings, parquet floors with inlaid borders, a pier mirror and six mantels.

One of a row of buff-colored brick houses completed in 1899, this East Flatbush single-family includes a nicely renovated above-grade basement and four full bathrooms. Like our other open house picks this week, it is fairly altered but the first floor includes some arched openings and wood floors in the living and dining room. The English basement has been set up as a well-appointed studio space with a kitchenette. Other upgrades include central air and a rear deck.

This 1914 Colonial Revival-style row house is part of the same development as a recent House of the Day that flew into contract after only four days on the market. While that one appeared to be in immaculate move-in condition, this one has an unrenovated interior and is missing some original details. The single-family does have the same practical layout, with living, dining and kitchen on first floor, and bedrooms and one full bath above. Laundry and two more full baths are in the English basement, which is accessible from the front and rear yards. Some period elements include a coffered ceiling and stained glass in the dining room, moldings, and parquet floors with inlaid borders in some rooms.
