This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Kensington, Bed Stuy, Clinton Hill and Williamsburg. How did they fare?

There are no guarantees the house is full of magic, but for decades this Kensington row house was home to 20th century children’s author Ruth Chew, who spun tales of enchantment for young readers. Those 29 adventures, the bulk published in the 1970s and 1980s, frequently took place on the streets of the neighborhood, with nearby Prospect Park a prominent backdrop. Set up as a single-family, the legal two-family house still has many of the original details while the wet rooms have gotten some updates. This former House of the Day sold in July for $2.205 million, which was $206,000 over the asking price.

There are some intriguing glimpses of period details in the listing photos and enough information to make it clear that this 1890s Bed Stuy row house is in need of a buyer with deep pockets and an appreciation for its many intact original features. The legal two-family at 255 Stuyvesant Avenue hasn’t changed hands since the 1970s and the listing notes that it is being sold “as is” with violations. Set up with an owner’s triplex and a top floor rental, the listing photos focus a bit more on those woodwork details than they do full room views. This former House of the Day sold in July for $1.85 million, which was $650,000 under the asking price.

In the Clinton Hill Historic District, this 1870s Italianate is need of an old house lover looking to take on a project. The estate condition two-family has mantels, plasterwork and moldings but there are also layers of later design decisions, including carpeting and paneling. The owner’s triplex includes a kitchen on the garden level and two full baths; none of the wet rooms in the house are shown. This former Open House Pick sold in August for $3.075 million, which was $425,000 under the asking price.

This loft space in Williamsburg’s Mill Building with an architect-designed interior has large rooms, soaring ceilings, exposed brick and historic beams. The two bedrooms are large and well lit, as is the great room, which is illuminated by a skylight overlooking a staircase to the roof deck. Said roof deck is well kitted out with an outdoor kitchen, pergola, hot tub and outdoor shower, not to mention plantings. This former Condo of the Day was taken off the market in June.
