Cobble Hill Studio Condo in Former Bank With Tall Ceilings, Sleeping Loft Asks $695K
This apartment has a fair amount to offer, including massive windows and a prime location.

This Cobble Hill condo studio has towering ceilings, massive windows, a sleeping loft and a prime location. And it’s in an interesting building: the former South Brooklyn Savings Bank built in 1871 at 191 Clinton Street, at the corner of Atlantic Avenue, in the Cobble Hill Historic District.
For a studio, the place has a fair amount to offer, including a fair sized kitchen that’s set off from the main living space, numerous closets and a decent amount of storage space (including, as the current tenant demonstrates, room for a bike above the closets). There’s also the aforementioned sleeping loft, which could fit a queen sized bed if you cared to cram one in there.
The kitchen is nicely renovated, with composite stone countertops, Shaker-style cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and a subway tile backsplash.

If you prize quiet this is probably not your spot, but it’s a good locale otherwise, amid plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops, including nearby Sahadi’s and Trader Joe’s. The building has an elevator, but there’s no mention of laundry.
Listed by Grant Braswell and Richard Passer of Compass, the unit — which is on view at an open house tomorrow evening — is asking $695,000. Which is no small chunk of change for a studio, even a large and nice one, and the monthly charges aren’t low either, with common charges of $529 and taxes of $391.
There’s a similar unit in the building that’s asking over $100K less, with lower fees — it’s not quite as nice, but it has a corner berth, with double exposures. Which one would you buy?
