Two-Bedroom Condo in Downtown Brooklyn's Toren With Pool, Rooftop Garden Access Asks $895K
This condo started life as a one-bedroom; a previous owner carved off a piece of the living room to create a second bedroom.
This two-bedroom condo is in the Toren, the distinctive tower with the undulating metallic facade at 150 Myrtle Avenue. Designed by the firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the amenity-heavy, 38-story, LEED Gold-certified building was a forerunner of the towers now shooting up all over Downtown Brooklyn, opening its doors in 2010.
The unit started life as a one-bedroom; a previous owner carved off a piece of the living room to create a second bedroom. The result, obviously, is a diminutive living room — a fair trade for some buyers; others could presumably return it to the original footprint without too much effort.
You’re on the 11th floor and the windows are large, so even with the towers sprouting up nearby the light should be pretty good, and there are views to take in.

Neither bedroom is large, but they each have a closet of decent size. The open kitchen is a nice one, if short on counter space, with custom walnut-esque cabinets, a panel-doored fridge, and a washer and dryer in an adjacent closet.
The building is lousy with amenities, including a doorman, pool, a yoga studio, a gym, saunas, a rooftop garden and a library. And of course there’s an ever-growing host of commercial enterprises popping up in these parts, like the DeKalb Market, Trader Joe’s and the Alamo Drafthouse.
Maintenance and taxes come to $803 a month.
Listed by Marie Bromberg of Corcoran, the unit’s asking $895,000. Which could be considered on the low side for a two-bedroom (an assertion sure to inspire belly laughs outside city limits) — but on the other hand it’s not a full-on two-bedroom. The last one-bedroom of this size (738 square feet) to sell went for $790,000, almost a year ago.
