Lavish Park Slope Condo in Swanky Tracy Mansion With Mantels, Stained Glass Asks $3.75 Million
Here’s an over-the-top interior to drool over and provide some distraction from the realities out there.
Here’s an over-the-top interior to drool over and provide some distraction from the realities out there. The three-bedroom condo is on the first floor of the majestic Tracy Mansion, at 105 8th Avenue in the Park Slope Historic District.
The neo-Classical marble palazzo was designed by Frank J. Helme in 1912 for the Tracy family. Brothers Michael and John were behind the successful M & J Shipping Company and siblings Maurice, Catherine and Helen joined them in the manse, according to census records. Architect Helme is perhaps best known for his work with firm Helme & Huberty on larger commercial and civic projects like the Hotel Bossert and the Prospect Park Boathouse.
We wrote about this first floor apartment back in 2017 when units in the converted mansion first hit the market. This time around there are some updated photos, including some room views not previously seen.

The duplex unit is pretty stunning, starting in the living room, which has a wood-burning fireplace with a massive carved marble mantel, stained glass and mahogany paneling. The sinuous staircase would make for a great grand entrance and, according to the listing, it has some television cred, having been used for “Boardwalk Empire.”
Off the first landing is the kitchen and dining area, where the original dark woodwork gives way to white cabinetry, white quartz counters and pale wood floors. As one would expect, the galley kitchen includes high end appliances, including Wolf, Sub-Zero and Bosch. A door off the kitchen leads to a small private backyard.
The three bedrooms are upstairs. Two have mantels and one of those includes more gleaming woodwork, including wainscoting wrapping around a bay window. There are two full baths upstairs and a half bath on the main level but, alas, none are pictured.
It was on the market for $4.2 million back in 2017. It’s now listed for $3.75 million by Alexander Maroni of Douglas Elliman. Think it will sell?
