While not huge, this Sunset Park co-op with an efficient layout is well proportioned and boasts an entry foyer for a bit of extra space. The one-bedroom retains many of its original prewar features, including moldings, parquet floors and original tile in the kitchen and bathroom.

It’s set on the third floor of 683 41st Street, known as the Riverside Homes Association and built as affordable housing by one of the area’s many Finnish immigrant associations in 1924. Just outside the historic district and overlooking the neighborhood’s eponymous park, the building of yellow and red brick has simple, modern geometric details and an elaborate columned neo-Classical entrance topped by loggias on each floor.

The building’s simple geometric motifs continue on the interior, with parquet and low wainscoting in the living room. While the unit appears in move-in condition, some new paint and strategic updates could provide some polish.

In the kitchen, where there is room for a table, wood planks or black and white checked linoleum could give the plywood floor some 1920s flair. The original subway wall tile appears in excellent condition, the appliances are relatively recent, and there is a mid century standalone farmhouse sink and white metal cupboards.

The bedroom has views of trees opposite in Sunset Park through two windows on two exposures. The bathroom has its original deep tub, pedestal sink, porcelain hex tile floor and subway tile walls. (If any cracks, grout or plumbing needs attention, reproduction rectified tile with minimal grout lines is available.)

The apartment has three closets and there is laundry and additional storage in the 32-unit, four-story walkup building, which allows 80 percent financing. The maintenance is low at $560 a month.

Listed by Ryan Field, Meris Blumstein and Casey Lichtman of Corcoran, the unit is asking $419,000. What do you think?
