This co-op at 414 Albemarle Road in Kensington looks like a nice basic prewar apartment. Nuthin’ fancy, but it’s got some prewar charm, decent size (800 square feet) and a reasonable monthly maintenance ($516). On top of that, the bathroom and kitchen look pretty inoffensive compared to a lot of things you see for under $300,000. That’s not to say this apartment will fly off the shelf at its current asking price of $295,000. We suspect there’s a little wiggle room built into that ask.

  1. Mopar, I was wondering the same thing.

I’ve stumbled home at all hours from Sycamore and always been safe. Another friend stumbled home and fell flat on his face at Cortelyou and C I Ave – and woke up at sunrise with his wallet, phone, and keys still in his pockets. It’s a pretty safe neighborhood.

  2. There’s a couple coop buildings closer to Cortelyou around e7th and e8th that I’d consider before this one for no other reason than to be almost the same distance from the F and the Q, just for the choice. The Q has been the better of the 2 trains, in my experience, and the walk home from the Q train along Cortelyou. And you would be stumbling distance from Sycamore…

  3. Not more than 15 min to Sycamore. If you are crawling back, that’s another story.

This is a very quiet and pretty block. You are within 5 min. walk of library, post office, F and G trains, express buses, great food shopping and a variety of takeout or unpretentious dining options. You are also within walking distance from B and Q (or you can get a short bus ride, B35 runs very often) and about 10 min. from Prospect Park.

Pretty much the only thing missing is yuppie-style dining/bars. For that, Cortelyou is not too far away.
