After a Makeover, a Caton Park Standalone Is Back on the Market and Asking $3.495 Million
When this early 20th century single-family in the Flatbush micro-nabe of Caton Park was on the market in 2019 it seemed to have everything, including well-kept original details.
When this early 20th century single-family in the Flatbush micro-nabe of Caton Park was on the market in 2019 it seemed to have everything, including well-kept original details, lots of bedroom space, a bathroom on every floor, central air and a garage. An LLC bought 57 Marlborough Road in 2021 for $2.465 million, and now it is back on the market, listed by Steve Halpern of Compass, for $3.495 million.
The new owner did some work since we last featured it as a House of the Day, replacing the wood-filled dining room with a kitchen adorned with a giant island, carving out an office space in the basement, and adding and enlarging bathrooms (all without permits, apparently — at least we couldn’t find any).
Also, the flippers tore down the garage, which seemed to be in good shape going by the photos, and even had a bit of historic neo-Classical detail — a garland, wreath and beading — on its gable. The house still has off-street parking on its driveway.
What do you think of the new look? Think the property will get ask?
