If you are looking for some room to spread out, this early 20th century Colonial Revival offers a plethora of bedrooms along with a generously sized main level with period details and the bonus of off-street parking. The house, at 673 East 22nd Street, is located in the Flatbush micro nabe of South Midwood.

One of the many neighborhoods carved out of former Flatbush farmland, construction kicked off in South Midwood in 1900 with the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reporting the neighborhood would “revel in the diversified possibilities of the Queen Anne, colonial and Eastlake styles.” Houses in the area were required to cost at least $4,500, according to the Eagle, and the duplication of house designs was discouraged. A map of 1906 shows most of the lots on this block of East 22nd Street (once known as Elmore Place) filled with detached houses, including No. 673.

While the shutters are gone from the front facade and the wooden steps have been replaced with brick, the historic tax photo shows the house looks much as it did then with a dentil cornice, dormers, a columned portico and a front door with a fanlight and sidelights.

The listing notes that the house hasn’t changed hands in over 50 years and while the photos show some sprucing is in order, they also show wood floors, a mantel and a spacious foyer with original stair. That foyer leads to a living room on one side and a dining room on the other, with a library and a screened-in porch offering yet more space on the first floor.

There isn’t a view of the kitchen, which is described as having “endless upgrade options” but the floor plan shows it is fairly spacious and includes a butler’s pantry. A glimpse of that windowed room can be seen in one of the photos and it has a tile floor and white cabinets.

All that bedroom space is spread across the two upper floors along with 2.5 baths; there is a total of two full and three half baths in the house. The bedrooms shown all have wood floors while the one full bath depicted has vintage subway tile on the walls along with white fixtures. The floor plan indicates the bathroom on the top floor likely has a clawfoot tub.

Downstairs, the basement includes laundry, a walk-in cedar closet and a half bath that needs to be “reimagined,” according to the listing.

In addition to the screened-in porch and the driveway, the outdoor space includes a front and rear yard. There appears to be a bit of patio out back along with some trees and shrubbery.

Listed with Nicole Christie of Corcoran, the house is priced at $1.595 million. Worth the ask?
