The listing copy says “this house has gorgeous original details including wide plank floors, pocket shutters, clawfoot tub, marble mantels, and a gorgeous center staircase…the building is in good, move-in condition but needs some minor cosmetic upgrades.” That doesn’t quite jibe with what we see in the pictures: a badly deteriorated exterior and an interior that at the very least will need paint stripping, skimcoating and floor refinishing throughout — and quite possibly new baths, kitchens, and some reconfiguration as well. We’re not sure that narrow, closed-off kitchen in the front parlor is working for us. But perhaps the asking price of $1,149,000 reflects the work needed. What do you think?
