In the Park Slope Historic District, this one-bedroom apartment offers high ceilings, vintage details such as parquet and stained glass, and a walk-in closet. It’s located in the front of the fourth and top floor of 582 5th Street, a circa 1900 pale brick apartment building with neo-Classical ornament, a bowed front and two heavy Beaux Arts-style cornices.

Now eight, the walkup’s original four flats had prime appointments when new. A 1915 ad for one of the apartments describes “nine unusually light large rooms,” plus two tiled bathrooms, two “extra” sinks (presumably in or near bedrooms), parquet, wall tile in the kitchen, along with a “wall safe, bookcases in library, hall rack, electric light” and a “beamed ceiling.” They also had butler’s pantries, old listings show.

Unit 4F has an entry hall with a closet, recently renovated kitchen, bay window in the living room overlooking 5th Street and ceiling fans in every room, according to the listing. The living room has a decorative mantel (not original) and moldings. The large bedroom is similarly appointed with parquet and moldings, as well as a French door.

The kitchen, also sizable, has a striking black and white checked floor, white cabinets, a good amount of counter space and room for a table. The bathroom is large as well and has a deep vintage tub, stained glass window and original border tile with a raised floral garland in delicate pastels.

Listed by Marie Lee Parker of Corcoran, the unit is asking $2,800 a month (and there’s a broker fee). Worth it?
