  1. $339 for 1300+ brand new is a pretty good price, considering that just yesterday I was at an open house for some condos in the non-landmark part of Prospect Heights (on Bergen, just past vanderbilt, facing a concrete skeleton of some other condos that’ll probably never get finished) and they were talking $600k for about 730 square feet … which is insane.

Agree with Wine Lover re: Brownstones — part of me wants to own one, and part of me is terrified of the amount of work that has to be done on them. Things like “dealing with steam heat every winter” make me nervous.

Bushwick or Bed Stuy, I might want to take a look at these.

  2. it’s bed stuy.

dave – buying a done condo that you don’t have to be responsible for upkeep for $339 for 1300+ sq feet sounds pretty cheap to me. buying a whole townhouse is a lot of work to maintain and rarely do you not have to dump some sort of money into them. this condo is $60K down with low monthlies. old houses need so much work. it’s endless.

also, if you have tenants, that’s something you have to be prepared to deal with, and not everyone wants that in their life even it makes sense financially on paper.

  3. OK, it’s Monday, and I’m cranky. It’s only a couple of blocks away from the Bushwick border. But still. Halsey Ave runs through Bed Stuy only, no other neighborhood.

Totally unrelated – those Google sat maps are amazing. I could spend hours looking at different streets all over everywhere. Did they just do this in NY and other major cities, or do they have sat maps for the entire world? What an undertaking. I’m in awe.

  4. I see a nit, let me pick it – this is Bed Stuy, not Bushwick. The apartments look lovely, and, as everyone knows, I love Bed Stuy, but anyone expecting the Bushwick hipster experience, whatever that is, will be looking at some nice looking apartments in Bed Stuy. Why can’t they just say that, and let them be what they are? Saratoga Park is a nice park, this area is not bad at all, just out there, in terms of distance. The traditional border of Bed Stuy and Bushwick is Broadway, so saying these are in Bushwick is like saying I live in East Park Slope.
