Windsor Terrace Prewar With Three Bedrooms, Six Closets Asks $1.4 Million
In an Art Deco building, this spacious co-op has a large kitchen and appears move-in ready.
This apartment in a Windsor Terrace co-op is roomier than most and appears move-in ready, with parquet floors, a large kitchen, and six closets. Its many windows — 11, to be exact — are arrayed along three exposures, presumably offering good light and ventilation.
It’s on the fourth floor of 30 Ocean Parkway, a six-story 70-unit Art Deco elevator building close to Prospect Park and the Parade Grounds. Horizontal and vertical lines of red brick and concrete stripes criss cross on the facade. The striking lobby boasts a multi-colored terrazzo floor, niches, and tray ceiling with gold-painted decorative plaster.
Newspaper stories of the time show developer Paqueen Building Corporation filed plans for a 47-unit building designed by prolific Cohn Brothers in August of 1935. By September of the following year, those apartments were in the process of being rented out.
The apartment’s six rooms include three bedrooms; there are also two bathrooms. The main rooms radiate off a central foyer big enough for a round table and bookcases or an office.
Mentioned in the listing although not pictured are charming ogee arches and shelves in niches seen in other units in the building. The nearly 20-foot-long living room boasts a coved ceiling, parquet, and space for both dining and lounging.
French doors lead to the renovated kitchen with white Shaker-style cupboards, a wood floor, and blue tile backsplash. Counters appear to be granite; butcher block tops an island.
In the bedrooms, ranging in size from single to queen to king, are wood floors with inlaid borders. An earth-tone ensuite bathroom has a shower, while the blue and white hall bathroom comes with a tub. Both are renovated.
The building has a live-in super, shared laundry, landscaped garden, gym, additional storage, and bike storage (the latter two for a fee), according to the listing, from Helen Chee of Compass. Maintenance for this unit is $1,614, and the asking price is $1.4 million. What do you think?
