If you never got the opportunity to step inside the 18th century Wyckoff-Bennett House, there’s now a virtual tour for potential buyers that provides all sorts of visual treats for old house lovers and the chance to drool over centuries of accumulated belongings.
The circa 1766 house at 1669 East 22nd Street in Madison went on the market this summer with a fair number of listing photos. But the virtual tour, available here, lets you wander from cellar to attic.
The house has only been occupied by three families since it was first constructed and the current owners, the Mont family, purchased the house and its contents in 1983. It is packed to the rafters with stuff, making for a fun scavenger hunt. In a virtual stroll, we spotted a period-appropriate kas, a 1930s Magic Chef range, at least four Raggedy Andys and a 1952 class photo from P.S. 247.
Meanwhile, the house, designated as an individual New York City landmark in 1968 and a National Historic Landmark in 1976, is still in need of a sympathetic buyer. It was listed at $3.25 million with Delton Cheng of Century 21 Homefront Realty in July but a price drop has brought the asking price down to $2.9 million.
