About
Ten to One is a published and award-winning Brooklyn New York based architectural design studio which has completed 100 projects in 10 years, dedicating 10% to pro bono for design equity. We work across a vast array of project types and budgets from community development to schools to residences to furniture to follies, completing projects against the odds. Our practice works through a holistic open source integrated project delivery method. Our design celebrates everyday spaces connecting individuals with their context.
Our projects are celebrations of their constituents. Our process is a collaborative venture with clients through a holistic open source integrated project delivery method. Design spans from long term planning to shop drawings to fixture and finish procurement. Budgeting and scheduling are gauged from the outset and throughout the design and construction process. Contractors and independent fabricators are folded into the process. Design and management are a single holistic service and customized for each project.
Ten to One’s work has received such accolades as Rethinking the Future Honor Award / A|N Best of Design Awards Unbuilt Cultural category and Unbuilt Educational Honorable Mention / Architizer A+ Award Finalist Unbuilt Institutional category and Boston Society for Architecture Design Award Unbuilt category. We have contributed to the Venice Biennale as one of the multi-national team of outposts for the OfficeUS Pavilion and the Gowanus by Design Axis Civitas exhibition. We have been featured in numerous publications including Dwell’s In the Loop: We Love New York: Inside the City’s Smartest Homes / AIA NY Oculus Magazine’s Accessibility in The City: The research behind designing residences for those with disabilities / AN’s Best of Design Beggars *Can* be Choosers / Bennington Magazine’s the Making of Ten to One / Archinect’s How to Fold Pro Bono Work Into Your Business Model / Teacher Librarian’s Flexible, Practical, Affordable, Colorful & Fun and Harper Design.
