About
At CAVdesign our mission is to combine the practical with the imaginative, creating spaces that will bring joy and ease to your everyday life. During the process we will work together to define and incorporate your personal style and story - your ideas are important to us. We also know that the process of changing your space can be stressful which is why we provide a full-service option, handling the details from managing contractors to installing ‘just right’ finishing touches when your project is installed. Design should be fun, so we try to add an element of surprise and delight to the design while satisfying the needs of your project – whether a custom piece of artwork, a salvaged industrial desk, or a distinctive vintage piece, we are always on the lookout for one-of-a-kind features to make each space unique.
We welcome projects small and large, from a single room makeover to planning your townhouse renovation alongside a licensed architect.
Typical projects include:
• Space Planning - re-configuring your apartment or house to make the most of your space, creating better flow, comfortable living spaces, and appropriate storage.
• Interior Design - Starting from scratch or integrating the furniture you love with new pieces to create a cohesive and lovely space.
• Kitchen and Bathroom design.
• Custom Furniture - Design and fabrication of custom furniture, built-ins, and upholstered items.
• Art Curation - Sourcing original artwork or creating a custom piece of art based on your palette and personal story.
While most of our work is in the New York area, we've also created beautiful living spaces out of town — in New Jersey, The Hamptons, Woodstock, Florida, and as far away as Granada, Spain.
CAVdesign has been featured in Dwell Magazine, Apartment Therapy, Brownstoner, Houzz, Sweeten, and others.
Give a ring - we are happy to discuss your project and answer all of your questions.

Testimonials
We moved into a new apartment three times the size of our old one, and we had no idea what to do! Even more challenging, my husband and I have really different design preferences, and we didn't know how to combine our different tastes. CAVdesign saved the day and helped us to create a space that feels warm and inviting, a place we are proud to call our home, a place we both feel represents us and our tastes. Jennifer was extremely patient, flexible with times to meet, and really kept our budget in mind. She also handled all the little things, from getting a handyman to hang hooks to dealing with the curtains, so all we had to do was say if we liked something or not (her 3-d renderings are incredibly helpful for those of us who can't visualize how something might fit into a space), and then magically she would make it happen. She even custom-designed furniture for us, creating a lovely bedroom set that is truly one-of-a-kind and fits perfectly into our space! I couldn't recommend Jen and CAVdesign more highly. She is easy to work with, creates beautiful spaces, and really puts her clients first. When we are ready to tackle another project, we'll definitely be calling her again!
– Melissa K.Jen was amazing from start to finish. I was so impressed from day one - she was incredibly fast and always communicative. She also helped me achieve several of my budget breaking ideas for a fraction of the cost - her work paid for itself in that sense. I was also really surprised (in a great way) of how much she knew about all the technical aspects during a gut renovation - electrical, plumbing, the physics of building. She managed the job and the contractor all the way through the last details, and my apartment couldn't be better!
– Lavanya R.We worked with Jennifer on two projects, first on an open living/dining/office revamp, including furniture selection, custom built-in bookcases and drop-down desk, fireplace re-facade, window coverings, floor refinishing, color selection, and new lighting, as well as two bathroom renovations. I'd never remodeled before, so I was glad to have Jennifer's expertise! She guided us through every step with great choices and advice. Obviously we were pleased, because we hired her again to help us replace a steep, metal spiral staircase in our duplex with something more functional and attractive. The result was beautiful and much more useful of the space! Jennifer kept storage space in mind, creating great closets above and below the staircase. I have no doubt that the renovations we completed with Jennifer helped eventually sell our apartment for a great price. I love Jennifer's willingness to get creative and solve problems, in addition to her great taste and easy personality.
– Katie B.Jennifer has helped us on numerous projects. In the very beginning Jennifer was basically hired as a designer/marriage counselor as my husband and I had a difficult time agreeing on colors and designs. She has impeccable taste and a sense for the space as well. Our first consultation was a easy, insightful and productive. She was able to help my husband visualize the space and explain how color could be brought in with pillows, artwork, etc. The space came out absolutely beautiful! . Since then, we have worked with CAVdesign on several projects: Our second Brooklyn project took place in 2014 when we purchased a brownstone that was recently redone but not in our style. Jennifer helped us see where we could make minor adjustments to make the place more modern, and she completely re designed and managed the Master Suite renovation. It was a major task as the blueprint was large with a very big bedroom, yet the bathroom and closet space was tiny. At the end of the project, we got the most gorgeous master bathroom with a his and hers closets without compromising the bedroom space. By using some IKEA pieces she also helped do it without breaking the bank. Our most recent project was a consultation on our Florida condo, where she advised me on decor, kitchen layout, and lighting. She understood the look I wanted and sourced some great pieces. Jennifer and her team are absolutely a pleasure to work with and we can't wait to work with them again.
– Mariya K.I hired CAVdesign to help me spruce up my Brooklyn home, including selecting new lighting, accessories, and artwork. I liked working with Jennifer so much that I asked for her help with our weekend home in Woodstock, NY. She designed our three bathrooms and advised me on the furniture as well. She also worked closely with our contractor to make sure the project stayed on track. We are very happy with the house which looks so clean, natural, and beautiful. She’s very efficient with her time and keeps an eye on the budget. The 3-D drawings and idea boards she provided were really helpful in making selections. When we purchased a home in Spain, I again asked for her help. Based on the architects drawings she was able to providing great ideas on the layout, furniture arrangements (and help me choose some pieces), and lighting. Jennifer has a great personality, super nice, honest, fun to talk to! She is also very direct and doesn't waste your time. I would hire her again without hesitation!
