There’s plenty of good news when it comes to solar energy adoption and incentives. Here are three points worth noting:

Solar power is tops
Simply put, of all the new ways to produce electricity in the United States, solar power is now the top choice (followed by wind power and natural gas).

Here are the deets: According to the Solar Energy Industry Association, in 2023, more than half (55 percent) of all new electricity-generating capacity added to the grid came from solar.

This trend is getting even stronger — in the first three months of 2024, three-quarters (75 percent) of new power sources were solar.

Solar power is growing rapidly
Back in 2010, solar power produced only a tiny fraction (0.1 percent) of all the electricity in the U.S. Now, it produces more than 6 percent of the country’s electricity.

This means that in just about 14 years, solar has gone from being almost nonexistent to producing a significant portion of the country’s power.

In short, the shift towards solar is happening faster now than ever before.

New York solar incentives make it easy
And in New York State, solar adoption is becoming a much more inviting financial reality for homeowners.

The New York State Historic Homeownership Rehabilitation Tax Credit (HTC), when combined with other federal, state and city incentives, can cover nearly 100 percent of the cost of solar adoption.

So far, Brooklyn SolarWorks has had over 400 customers across Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan claim the credit for their solar installation.

Note: Some neighborhoods in New York City gain eligibility while others lose it. Act now while you can!
