With same sex marriage a fact in all 50 states, it’s easy to assume that LGBTQ civil rights issues are in the past. The truth is, we have a long way to go.

On June 14th at 7pm, BRIC TV and Housing Works will present Pride 20/20: LGBTQ Civil Rights, A #BHeard Town Hall. This Town Hall-style discussion at BRIC will be free and open to the public, live broadcasted on BRIC TV and streamed online.

Given recent gains, Pride 20/20: LGBTQ Civil Rights will ask, what’s next for the movement? What can we, as Brooklynites, do in the next four years to support this issue? Scheduled panelists for the evening will include Ritchie Torres, New York City Council Member from District 15 in the Bronx; Kiara St. James of Housing Works and the New York Trans Advocacy Group (NYTAG); Meredith Talusan, LGBT Staff Writer at BuzzFeed News; Kenyon Farrow, US & Global Health Policy Director at Treatment Action Group; Carl Siciliano, Executive Director at The Ali Forney Center, and Professor Katherine Franke, Director, Columbia University Center for Gender & Sexuality Law. With moderator Brian Vines, Senior Correspondent at BRIC TV, they will discuss job and housing discrimination, racial disparities, and healthcare, among other topics.

Viewers can also get involved in the event’s social discussion by sending questions via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to @BRICTV with the hashtag, #BHeard. Select questions will be read live during the event.
