williamsburg-theater-121410.jpgWilliamsburg is getting a much-needed movie theater, reports the Brooklyn Paper today. While the neighborhood has its share of indie theaters, this $9.3 million, three-story theater is going Hollywood. The six screens will primarily show first-run feature films, the first multi-screen movie house in Williamsburg to do so since the Commodore was demolished in 2002. It will open on the vacant corner of Driggs and Grand hopefully by next fall.

  1. Please, this is a good thing. I love indie art house flicks as much as anyone, but sometimes you do want a night out to see a “new” film. Yeah, a lot of them are terrible, but I have to think they’ll be more inclined to showing something like True Grit and Black Swan than Twilight.

Duane Reade, multiplex cinema…hey, wasn’t there just a story about Walmart scouting for NYC locations again?

you can remove the moonface from the moon but you can’t remove the moon from the moonface. something like that
