On Tuesday Runnin’ Scared reported that construction is supposed to start next week on Williamsburg Cinemas, the multiplex coming to the corner of Grand and Driggs. The theater’s owner, Harvey Elgart, told the blog that the Williamsburg space will be similar to another one of his properties, Cobble Hill Cinemas, in terms of its mixture of films—”ranging from foreign films to family fare to mainstream blockbusters.” The DOB also green-lighted the build earlier this week.

    • for blockbusters (not a lot of content, but amazing production value and visuals) i like to go to Manhattan IMAX

For artsy fartsy / foreign – kinda like the ambience of an old theater

Guess i’ll be checking this theater out anyway – cuz its close

  1. I think you guys are confusing Court Street UA Theater in downtown Brooklyn with Cobble Hill Cinemas on Court and Baltic. Cobble Hill Cinemas is pretty much moonface territory and that’s who’s building this one in williamsburg. I agree that seeing a movie at Court Street is enjoyable for the audience participation.
